All it needs is a little push

It's been quite an intense week developing an icon that represents me. I have been working with 2 themes, animals and their meanings and the Celtic/Norse patterns. Initially these ideas were separate where I was just looking into making an animal symbol which would represent the Viking style figurehead that was at the front of their boats. However, as I delved deeper into the animals and found other ways of representing them, I found I could combine the animals with the Celtic/Norse patterns. For example, using a pigs curly tail and combining it with the spirals of Celtic design.

I am now at a stage where I am deciding between a Killer Whale's spots which have been tweaked slightly to represent a viking boat, or the pig's curly tail which weaves creating my initials.

The big thing that helped me get to this stage was by really pushing myself to just try and vary it, no matter how little. Instead of just using a whale's tail, how else could I show it? Could I vary the tail shape or look at fins? This kind of thinking opened up so many more options and eventually led to a new idea which I felt was more original and worked a lot better.
