Review: Barcelona! You were so much more than amazing architecture

In February I was very lucky to go on a university trip to the magnificent city of Barcelona. A city that is full of amazing architecture, views and culture! There were two particular highlights. The first was the Sagrada Familia, an absolutely breathtaking church that towers and overshadows everything around it. The detail in everything from the doors to the intricate masonry on the outside walls was unbelievable. On the inside were fantastic stained glass windows and towering pillars that made you look up. Climbing to the top provided breathtaking views of the city even if the way down was nerve racking!

The second highlight was the Gaudi Gardens. After a long walk up many hills and mid-street escalators, you are presented with cacti and views of all of Barcelona and the sea. It really was impressive as you could see everything, including the Sagrada Familia and a building that resembled London's Gerkin.

However, there was one thing I got out of Barcelona that was better than the views, the art and the culture. It was the new friends that I made. The trip provided a great opportunity to bond with people on both halves of the course. From this I've made new friends and also more people to connect with in the studio. Critiques can be more personal as people know each other more and I've found I'm working with more people, sharing ideas.
